East Lodge, River Itchen
Join Paul Procter, Gilly Bate and Nick Measham for a day covering the casting techniques and general fishing knowledge to improve your sport. The day will have something for everyone from novice to the more experienced. The day will begin with the vital coffee and a discussion about tackle for river trout fishing. Then we will get into the core of the day – practising and improving casting.
We will cover single handed casting – overhead, roll and shooting line – with a focus on nailing the basic techniques and ridding you of common – and not so common – faults. Should anyone wish, Nick can help with double-handed tuition too. The aim is to give you as much individual help as we can.
Over lunch, we will talk leaders, knots and flies. Then, back to the water for more casting practice.
Paul and Gilly are both AAPGAI single-handed instructors and Nick is an AAPGAI double-handed instructor (but still knows a thing or two about the single-handed game. Paul is a renowned fly tyer and a prolific angling writer. Gilly is an experienced chalk stream guide to boot. Nick now spends too much time making sure we have wild fish to catch.
* A donation to WildFish is included in the price per rod – as well as lunch and drinks.
