Five Years on the Fly

Five Years on the Fly marks the five-year anniversary of City Flickers, celebrated on one of England’s most iconic chalkstreams, the River Test.

Kindly hosted by Orvis on their Ginger Beer Beat at Kimbridge, the day brings together members, former members, sponsors and partners for a relaxed and convivial gathering on the riverbank. Please message us directly if you would like to bring a plus one.

Guests will enjoy canapés and a fully catered lunch by Sarah Green Catering, with a traditional Indian marquee providing a hub for conversation, free-flowing drinks, and shelter throughout the day. Fishing will be available on the beat, with rods offered at a suggested £10 per hour donation to charity.

The beat can comfortably accommodate six rods fishing at any one time, with two professional guides on site throughout the day to assist anglers of all abilities. All tackle will be provided free of charge, so please do not bring your own rods. Guests are invited instead to fish with Orvis equipment provided on the day.

The programme will also include a raffle in aid of WildFish, along with a casting competition featuring exceptional prizes generously provided by Orvis. Adding a personal touch, we will be unveiling a special City Flickers–branded Lakedown Brewing Co. beer, named by one of our very own members — with a few more surprises in store.

Dress code: summer smart-casual (unless it rains, in which case waders are strongly encouraged).

Please note that on-site parking is unavailable. We are aiming to secure a nearby car park; however, should this not be possible, Orvis will support with a number of shuttle trips in the Orvis Land Rover from Stockbridge, where guests are encouraged to stay overnight and make a weekend of it. Taxi details will also be provided for arrivals via Grateley Station, and depending on numbers, minibus transport may also be arranged.
